Born from a love of family and making things by hand, Billy Bamboo began at home — a small project by designer Jenny Gao-Costelloe, named after her son Billy.
It started with making clothes for her children, then grew into one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces — each one thoughtful, resourceful, and made with care. Over time, this evolved into a collection of everyday accessories for the whole family, designed to be worn, loved, and lived in.
From our Toronto studio, we now create knitted pieces using only natural, durable yarns chosen for their softness, warmth, and longevity.
We believe in simple things done well: honest materials, beautiful colours, and products that stay with you.
Products for Life.
What we make?
We design a considered range of knitted and woven accessories — pieces made for comfort and function.
Our collections include all kinds of everyday essentials, from socks and beanies to scarves and handmade scrunchies, designed to be worn daily and lived in over time.
Each piece begins with the yarn — chosen for its softness and warmth — and is shaped through thoughtful construction and fit. We favour simple, timeless forms, brought to life through a balance of natural tones and bold, vibrant colour.
The result is a collection that feels familiar yet refined — easy to wear, easy to keep, and made to move with you through the seasons.
Why we make it?
Billy Bamboo began with a very simple idea - make everyday products better. Better colour, better made, better feeling and better suited to real life.
We believe the pieces that you reach for most, should be the ones made with the most care. Socks, beanies and scarves may seem simple but when they’re thoughtfully designed and well made, they can quite literally elevate your day.
We strive to make things to be worn, loved and lived in - pieces you reach for again and again…and again!
